On Friday, June 6th, Ronnie Tullos, a candidate for Governor of Texas in the upcoming 2026 election, met with the mayor of Coldspring, Texas, as part of his early campaign listening tour. This meeting aimed to address various issues pertinent to the small town and explore ways to balance the preservation of its unique charm while fostering economic and infrastructural growth.

The first major topic of discussion revolved around maintaining the small town feel of Coldspring while simultaneously generating more revenue through tourism and local attractions. The mayor emphasized the importance of retaining the town's unique identity, which is cherished by its residents and a draw for visitors. Tullos agreed, noting that the character of small towns like Coldspring contributes significantly to the cultural appeal of Texas.

An essential part of maintaining the small town feel while growing the economy is supporting local businesses. Creating a business-friendly environment would encourage local entrepreneurship and ensure that the town's economic growth is driven by community members invested in preserving its charm.

A critical infrastructure issue identified during the meeting was the need for a new water treatment plant. The current facility could be stressed beyond its capacity given any significant future growth. The mayor outlined the challenges faced due to the inadequacy of the existing plant, including limitations on new development.

Tullos recognized the urgency of this issue and pledged to prioritize infrastructure improvements if elected. He proposed seeking funding to finance the construction of a modern water treatment plant on Lake Livingston. This new facility would not only ensure the delivery of safe and reliable water to current residents but also support the town’s capacity for future development.

The meeting between Ronnie Tullos and the mayor of Coldspring highlighted a shared vision for the town’s future – one that embraces growth while preserving the qualities that make Coldspring unique.

As Tullos continues his campaign, he plans to carry forward the insights gained from this and other meetings with small-town leaders across Texas. His commitment to listening to local concerns and addressing them through thoughtful, community-focused policies positions him as a candidate dedicated to the welfare of all Texans.
