On Friday, May 30th, Ronnie Tullos, a candidate for Texas Governor in the upcoming 2026 election, embarked on a listening tour to engage with the mayor and approximately 14 local business and community leaders in Del Rio, Texas. With the campaign taking off, this engagement aimed to address pressing community concerns and showcase his commitment to listening to and giving a voice to all Texans.
The tour began with a meeting at the mayor’s office, where they discussed a variety of issues.
The mayor and community leaders highlighted concerns such as teachers' pay, the need for an additional port of entry from Mexico with more staff to reduce wait times, and the expansion of the highway from 2 lanes to 4 lanes. Infrastructure improvement funds, the need for more border patrol officers, and assistance in bringing an airline back to their airport were also discussed.
Tullos outlined his plans to address these issues, emphasizing his commitment to sustainable development, economic growth, and community safety. He emphasized the importance of educational reforms, enhancing the border patrol capabilities, as well as bringing more business and recreational travelers to the area to help bolster the city’s economy.
